Clinical Psychologist - Adult Community Mental Health

The Christchurch Adult Community Mental Health Service provides treatment for people aged 18-65 years who suffer from a wide range of mental disorders. Join us in this permanent role and enjoy providing assessment and treatment interventions for outpatients of one of four Community Mental Health (CMH) teams in Christchurch.

In this full time position your time will be evenly split between profession-specific general Clinical Psychology work, and specialist treatment as part of the MindSight Programme for Borderline Personality Disorder. In both roles, Clinical Psychologists are working to implement “best practice” options for psychological interventions and there are opportunities for service innovation and applied research.

You’ll hold a Masters in Clinical Psychology (or overseas equivalent), and Registration in the Clinical Scope of Practise. Previous experience in the adult mental health field is preferred but other skill backgrounds or experience will be given full consideration. Experience in Mentalisation-Based Treatment and/or the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder is desirable, but not essential, as training for certification as an MBT therapist can be provided. General professional development through ongoing education is supported by way of a dedicated annual allowance and the Mental Health Division has a professional career pathway that recognises experience and excellence.

The position is a busy role where excellent interpersonal skills and organisational skills are vital. You will draw on your mental health experience to deliver comprehensive assessment and support to clients and their families/whanau and will be an active participant in our multidisciplinary team, working closely with referrers and colleagues from other agencies. CMH teams work from a central location which affords the opportunity for close liaison and support from psychology colleagues.
