Territory Families, Youth Justice Programs
Youth Justice in the Northern Territory is currently undergoing major reform, with the responsibility for Youth Detention now residing with the Department of Territory Families. The position of Psychologist at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre has recently become vacant, providing the opportunity for a psychologist who is experienced and passionate about making a difference in young people's lives.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated knowledge of the "What Works" literature in offender rehabilitation, experience in the application of Risk, Need, Responsivity and other relevant principles involved in reducing reoffending. A high level of interpersonal and written communication skills and experience working with and communicating with indigenous people is necessary. Unconditional registration is essential. It is preferable that applicants hold a forensic or clinical area of practice endorsement with at least three years post registration experience.
