About the role
We are looking for a compassionate and adaptable Counsellor to join our Counselling Service. You will be responsible for provision of a professional counselling service to students and staff and the UTS community regarding a broad range of personal, academic and psycho social issues.
In this role you will:
- Assess and diagnose the psychosocial, academically related, and mental health problems of presenting clients
- Provide individual, couple and group counselling using a range of psychotherapeutic skills and interventions consistent with currently accepted best practice
- Design and provide programs such as workshops and presentations.
You have excellent communication skills and experience working in an environment that embraces diversity. You have the ability to navigate complex situations, anticipate risk and plan accordingly.
You will also bring to the role:
- An ability to assess a range of psycho-social problems / disorders and provide appropriate and effective interventions using effective counselling approaches
- Experience in providing crisis interventions and counselling for complex trauma is desirable
- Registration as a Psychologist or a Social Worker in NSW and membership with the Australian Psychological Society or Australian Association of Social Workers, and eligibility for registration as a provider under Medicare

Base Salary Range: $98,340 to $111,999 (HEW8)
These roles attract 9.5% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

These positions are full-time and appointments will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
Work hours can vary according to the demand on the service and staff are required to demonstrate flexibility in this regard.
