The Australian Defence ForceCentre for Mental Health (ADFCMH) is a growing centre of excellence withinJoint Health Command which provides leadership, best practice and innovation inmilitary mental health. The ADFCMH is located in Sydney and develops anddelivers a robust program of mental health consultancy services, training andupskilling of the ADF mental health workforce, and oversees and conductsapplied research in relation to clinical interventions in military mentalhealth.

 

The position AssistantDirector Mental Health Programs (ATOD) is one of two important and excitingroles currently being sought to join the team at the ADFCMH in Mosman, Sydney.

 

The position of AssistantDirector Mental Health Programs (ATOD) is primarily responsible for thetranslation of research into evidenced based practice through the development,incubation and monitoring of programs and initiatives designed specifically forserving members of the ADF, command and defence health professionals. You willhave generalist knowledge of mental health issues and specialist knowledge ofissues relating to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. You will coordinate andmonitor the development and implementation of the ADF Alcohol ManagementStrategy.

 

As part of a blended team ofAPS and ADF personnel, you will be expected to be able to translate mentalhealth and relevant research to the military population, contribute toactivities which offer strategic benefits and manage the promotional trainingmaterials for member and clinical training. You will have a portfolio ofprograms for which you will have national responsibility in terms of theirquality, relevance and technical accuracy as well as some requirements to workwith ADF policy experts in the field of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Youwill initiate and maintain strong relationships with a network of internal andexternal stakeholders and utilise these to work towards mutually beneficialoutcomes.
