The Access to Early Learning (AEL) Program
has been developed to improve access to quality early education and care
for vulnerable children, improve learning and development outcomes for
vulnerable children and support early childhood education and care
services (kindergartens) to offer quality, inclusive programs and
environments that engage vulnerable families.

About the Role:
experienced child focused early childhood educator, family caseworker /
counsellor or family support worker with knowledge of child
developmental needs and the operational context of kindergartens is
required. The role require skills suitable to support children, parents
and educators working in kindergartens and long day childcare centres so
that 16 children each year with educational and other vulnerabilities
are supported to thrive at 3 and 4 year old kindergarten and be ready to
successfully transition to school.
have knowledge of strengths based approaches to implementing goal
focused plans with parents and educators so that children, parents and
educators feel confident that your involvement in visiting them at home
and at the kindergarten will be helpful to the educational outcomes of
the child. You will be proficient in working independently, in a
consultative and collaborative manner with parents, colleagues,
educators, maternal and child health nurses, integrated family services
workers and child protection workers.
You will be able to manage
brokerage fund expenditure and the reporting requirements of DET and
EACH. You will have knowledge of the Child Best Interests Framework, the
EYLF, identifying risk to children and the lifelong benefits resulting
from active participation in the learnings afforded by kindergarten. You
will have an appropriate educational qualification, capacity to
communicate effectively, a driver's licence, a WWCC and a current police
check. You will be able to travel to homes and kindergartens across
both the Yarra Ranges Shire and Knox municipality using both an EACH car
and your own.
