Clinical Project Officer (VPSG4)

About the role:

The Mental Health Program Office (MHPO) is the organisational lead in building and enhancing Mental Health Literacy across the workforce and achievements to date have been significant. In response to the Better Mental Health for Emergency Workers Initiatives announced by the State Government in 2018, a Clinical Project Officer is required to assist with the scoping, defining and management of Early Intervention and Prevention Fund (EIPF) projects until 30 June 2022.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Clinical Project Officer will be part of a small, multi-disciplinary team of professionals. The position will be required to develop, implement, facilitate and evaluate mental health interventions, including reflective practice and trauma recovery and resilience group programs.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing group based clinical interventions including the development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of current evidence-based practices and emerging trends to inform mental health and wellbeing projects and initiatives.
  • Maintaining compliance relating to ethical and organisational requirements, in accordance with legislative and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to and developing briefings, standard operating procedures (SOPs), project progress reports, evaluations and documentation to the satisfaction of reporting requirements.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated high level clinical expertise, including the ability to make autonomous judgements in complex environments.
  • Experience in the development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of group interventions.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Highly developed written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to provide advice and make decisions on issues of individual and organisation psychological risk within a complex and diverse organisation, in line with ethical and legal requirements.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registration number must be provided; or
  • Registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Proof of registration must be provided.
  • Masters or equivalent qualification in either psychology or social work is desirable.
  • This position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, Docklands, however, travel intrastate and some interstate will be required.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
