Child Clinical Psychologist - Selective Mutism Clinic

The Selective Mutism Clinic in St Leonards has been operating for 15 years to provide assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with selective mutism and other comorbid conditions.

In addition to individual therapy, the Clinic provides an intensive school program for most children as part of their treatment program, which involves training (via regular video consultations) for teachers to implement strategies for their student. The clinic director also provides ongoing training to teachers and parents via regular seminars. Children with presentations other than selective mutism are seen as part of our general practice, MindBox Psychology. 

Our Clinic prides itself on providing a high standard of clinical care to the community. All of our psychologists have Doctorate or Masters Degrees in Clinical Psychology and ongoing individual supervision for clinicians is provided. We have a full-time practice manager / receptionist and a a steady stream of referrals from various sources including local GPs, schools, and the internet.

We are seeking a Child Clinical Psychologist to join our caring and supportive team of experienced clinical psychologists to provide assessment and treatment for our child and adolescent clients. The position is a part-time contract position with flexible hours and no requirement for after-hours work.

The position offers flexibility and independence, clinical support, access to resources, all within a very supportive and caring work environment with full administrative support. 

The presentations that we typically see in the clinic include selective mutism and other anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, tic disorder, behavioural problems, self-esteem, parent-child relationship problems, and emotion regulation. We use evidence-based treatments such as CBT, emotion-coaching, and mindfulness. We encourage growth of clinician's specific interests with individual supervision included.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Full registration with AHPRA
  • Solid training in CBT and other evidence-based treatments
  • Passion for working with children and adolescents
