Based in Bathurst,
the Counsellor is responsible for providing educational and vocational
counselling for intending and enrolled students, and also personal counselling
for enrolled students within TAFE NSW. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) temporary role until
December 2021 (with a possibility of extension).
The role will utilise your high
standard of professional practice; your ability to work independently;
excellent communication and interpersonal skills; well-developed time
management and organisational skills; & computer proficiency.
To be successful in this role you will
Recognised degree with appropriate
major in Psychology in an APAC accredited course OR Eligibility for
registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
2 years relevant and recent counselling
experience, in personal counselling AND vocational and/or educational
counselling OR post graduate qualifications in related counselling areas
Knowledge of NSW secondary and
post-secondary education/training systems
Excellent communication, negotiation,
liaison and interpersonal skills to support students and staff members
Experience delivering counselling
services via telephone & telehealth, especially for young people with
mental health problems
Prepared to develop a knowledge of
and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies.
Current Drivers Licence and ability

mental health crisis. Describe the situation, the actions you took and the
TAFE students may present with a range of problems
affecting their vocational progress, e.g. learning disabilities, health
concerns, domestic violence. Explain your approach to counselling students
presenting with multiple issues.
