CALHN Medical Lead – Mental
Health Clinical Program
Overview of Role
Temporary 3-year appointment. Full time consultant position inclusive of
Medical Lead and clinical duties.
Right of return to a permanent clinical position up to 1.00 FTE at the
conclusion of 3-year term.
As part of the Mental Health Clinical Program (MHCP) leadership team, the
Medical Lead, MHCP, will contribute to the achievement of key performance
indicators, strategic and operational deliverables for the
program.
The role will provide medical leadership and be accountable for clinical
governance for all clinical work within the MHCP and contribute to service
planning within the program.
The Medical Lead, MHCP is accountable for the medical leadership and
governance within the MHCP within Central Adelaide Local Health Network
(CALHN).
The Medical Lead, MHCP will maintain a clinical load as required.
Overview of Program and Leadership Structure
The MHCP operates across four hospitals and various community sites. It
consists of Community Mental Health Services for youth, adults and older
persons, including Hospital in the Home and Mental Health Co-Responder Services
(SAAS & SAPOL), Emergency and Short Stay Units, Acute Inpatient Mental
Health Services and Consultation-Liaison Services for adults and older persons,
Elpida Rehabilitation Service, Inpatient and Community Clinical Rehabilitation
Services, Centre for Treatment of Anxiety and Depression, Intermediate Care
Service, as well as the Metro Mental Health Triage Service.
The CALHN has a clinical program leadership structure which brings
together the multidisciplinary clinical and operational leads to deliver better
patient outcomes and increase collaboration and accountability. The MHCP
Medical Lead will work closely and collaboratively as a member of the MHCP
clinical program leadership team, including the Nursing Lead, Allied Health
Lead and Program Director.

Specialist Qualifications for Consultant registerable as a Psychiatrist
with the Medical Board of Australia
- Hold and
maintain appropriate registrations with the Australian Health Practitioner
Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
To Be Successful in this Role
Holding appropriate specialist qualifications for a consultant registerable
as a psychiatrist with the Medical Board of Australia. You will demonstrate
experience in a Senior Clinical leadership role, including experience in the
planning and provision of health services. This will be supported by your
proven leadership skills and ability to motivate others. Successfully leading
professional groups to achieve best practice clinical outcomes, you will have
the capacity to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a
diverse range of professional staff.
