About the Role

This new Clinical Neuropsychologist position will provide clinical neuropsychological services across St Vincent’s acute and subacute services, including the medical and rehabilitation inpatient wards. This consulting role will present an opportunity to develop and implement neuropsychology services, working in partnership with inpatient referrers and multi-disciplinary teams. The role will have autonomy to work across services to assist with person-centred, evidence-based, and timely care.

This position will be required to work at two main locations; SVHM hospital in Fitzroy, and SVHM St George’s Health Service in Kew. 

 

Position duties:

  • Provide high quality and efficient neuropsychological services to referred clients and families through diagnostic assessment, recommendations, verbal and written feedback and education
  • Provide assessments and reports that focus on relative cognitive strengths and weaknesses, differential diagnosis, functional recommendation and, management strategies.
  • Provide basic psychoeducation, brief counselling and support relevant to the needs of the cognitively impaired person and their carers.
  • Conduct neuropsychological assessments with the use of interpreters, and consider the impact of clients’ communication, cultural, and education diversity on the test results.
  • Provide assessments and reports that focus on relative cognitive strengths and weaknesses, differential diagnosis, functional recommendation and, management strategies.

Classifications for this position will range from (dependent on grade):

PK1 - PK4 ($94,478.80 - $106,906.80 per annum, pro rata)

PL1 - PL4 ($108,279.60 - $123,905.60 per annum, pro rata).
Your Contribution

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist
  • Endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology from the Psychology Board Australia
  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Neuropsychology recognised by the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
  • Board-approved supervisor, or working towards this within next 6 months of commencing the role
  • Extensive clinical experience in and knowledge of the application of neuropsychology practice and principles, in the context of working with older people, people with dementia
  • Experience in the application of neuropsychology practice and principles with younger adults presenting with ABI or ID and their families.
  • Current National criminal history check

About the Department Work within a flexible, interdisciplinary structure, that delivers a high-quality healthcare service.  The role involves delivering neuropsychology services for clinically appropriate patients referred from the acute and subacute services. This role requires the Neuropsychologist to work time-efficiently, flexibly and collaboratively across SVHM acute and subacute services, with a range of multidisciplinary team members, referring professionals, community professionals and other key stakeholders.
