About us…

Essential Life Psychology/Sue Du Plessis and Associates is a well established practice in Pennant Hills for 18 years, with an extensive GP and word of mouth referral base.  We provide a supportive collegial environment where Psychologists can experience themselves as excelling in their treatment of clients through experienced supervision and exposure to straight forward and more complex cases.

Our rooms are located in a modern building with stylishly appointed fittings to create a warm and nurturing ambience for clients and practitioners alike.

This practice has been servicing the Hills District for 18 years and is well versed in successfully maintaining both the clinical and business aspects of a substantial number of clients at a satisfied referral base.

We are known for our ability to provide effective ST and LT treatment approaches for adults, children, adolescents, couples and families.  We are equally known for our patient and kind intake and administrative support staff.

Our team of existing Psychologists are varied in their areas of interest and enjoy sharing their skill base at our professional skills development opportunities as well as sharing their companionship during work and social occasions.  We are a warm and friendly team.

Two Psychologist Positions:  Requirements…

  • The successful applicants will possess substantial clinical experience (minimum 2+ years post registration as a psychologist) to provide counselling and therapy across a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, loss and grief, parenting and post-traumatic stress.

  • An advantage to these positions would be a demonstrated experience in supporting children 0 - 12 years and their parents; and / or supporting couples to address complex and ongoing relationship issues, while introducing improved communication and relationship skills in short term and long term capacity.  Strong ability to provide treatment approaches in areas of complex family situations.


  • We require an availability to provide a minimum of 12 appointment times spread across 2 to 3 different days, usually across the afternoon into the early evening and / or Saturday.

  • An interest to work in a specific area,  e.g children and adolescents, addictions, couples, sex therapy or family, combined with a generalist ability to assist adult clients across the typical range of issues presenting in a private practice setting. 

  • Strong organisational skills and reliability essential.

  • Ability to work autonomously as well as enjoy being a member of a team.

  • Ability to provide effective ST treatment as required by Medicare and MT/LT counselling/therapy when appropriate.

  • Experienced supervision / professional skills development meetings available to further develop your special interest area.

  • Remuneration on a per client basis.  Attractive fee level. 

  • Minimum two to three year commitment to the position (most of our team have been with us five years or longer)

  • Registration with AHPRA and with Medicare essential.   Work Cover accreditation or eligibility to obtain.

  • Availability to start as soon as possible, some flexibility for the right applicant.
