Southern Cross Psychology is a well-established team of experienced clinicians, providing tailored, evidence-based assessment and treatment to adults, children and families. Our lovely, comfortable office is in Penrith, in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Mountains (and a quick across-the-traffic motorway trip from most other parts of Sydney). The practice has been in operation for 20 years, and is highly regarded by the many GPs, psychiatrists and paediatricians who refer to us.
To say our work is varied, is an understatement - we see clients across the lifespan, with a range of presenting issues as varied as the different demographic groups we serve. Our passion for social justice (and a strong drive to work with interesting cases) means we work across a range of subsidised programmes, alongside our work with private patients, and medico-legal work in several jurisdictions. Never a dull moment!
Our team enjoys a level of collaboration and mutual support that is rarely seen in private practice settings, with both internal and external supervision, shared administration and meal times, and a strong emphasis on learning together and having fun at work. Our work is further supported by a professional administration team, access to a rich and ever-growing resource library, and paid leave and financial support for professional development.
With ongoing growth of the practice in a number of directions, we seek an experienced, senior Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist to help lead the team. Your remit will include a varied caseload of clinical work, as well as supervision of other psychologists. At present, these are all registered psychologists with substantial experience and skill, and in future this may include supervision of interns or registrars, as well. The role may expand over time, to include external supervision to psychologists working in other settings.
Ideally you will be a Board-approved supervisor, expert and intuitive in a range of modalities. A systemic approach, and an understanding of developmental neurobiology underpins much of our work - our evidence-based approaches include CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, EMDR, Family / systemic therapy, sensory integration. A newer addition for some team members, is the use of EEG Neurofeedback, however this role will primarily focus on provision and supervision of psychotherapy.
Your warmth, empathy and healthy sense of humour will be matched by confidence in your work, a sound capacity for critical thinking, and individual case formulation. You will be an experienced clinician who still enjoys clinical work, who is also ready to take a step in the direction of sharing your expertise in supporting the work of others.
This position is an important one in our team, so we're keen to find a good fit, and can be flexible around hours and conditions, for the right person. This is an employed position, with insurance, superannuation, sick leave, and annual leave included.
