Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill a full-time position of Psychologist within the Dubbo Regional Aboriginal Health Service (DRAHS) Social & Emotional Wellbeing Department. 

This role is: 

  • A two year contract with possibility of extension
  • A busy clinical role for a Psychologist to work with clients to prevent, diagnose and treat psychological issues within a health clinic in NSW.
  • Will work in a highly successful Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing Psychologist services to clients
  • Offering a competitive remuneration package plus salary packaging. 

Reporting to the Operations & Systems Manager, the Psychologist provides clinical expertise while working alongside the Primary Healthcare team to determine the best course of treatment for particular patients. You will be responsible for:

  • The Provision of psychological interventions in accordance with established evidence-based protocols
  • Participate in clinical supervision as negotiated with the Operations & Systems Manager
  • Manage counselling sessions within a group setting or with individual clients of DRAHS/CAHS, while supporting work practices that promote a holistic primary health care approach, with the aim of achieving the best health outcomes for service users. 


·         Degree in Psychology

·         Current psychology registration requirements as determined by the Psychology Board of Australia.

·         Minimum 2 years’ experience.

·         Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to continuous Quality Improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, liaise with clients, family members, carers, referral agencies and other relevant agencies as required
  • Current NSW Working with Children’s Check
  • Current Criminal History check 


·         Demonstrated experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.

·         Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of On-Line Medicare claiming systems?

·         Demonstrated experience of working with Aboriginal Communities.



·         Possession of a current ‘C’ Class Open Driver’s Licence valid in NSW is required; 

·         Current First Aid and CPR Certificate 

·         Proof of vaccination is to be provided upon acceptance of appointment.
