Counselling and Psychological
Services (CAPS) at The University of Melbourne invites expressions of interest
from suitably qualified clinical and counselling psychologists or mental health
social workers to be on our register for locum counselling employment.
CAPS provides a range of free
psychological services to students and staff of the University in a collegial
and supportive team of around 30 counsellors.
Locum counsellors provide psychological counselling focussed on triage,
initial assessment and treatment, with specific emphasis on the identification
and management of clients in high-risk situations, and appropriate referral or
in-house shorter-term treatment intervention (up to six sessions).
Locum counsellors are
generally engaged for two or three days per week for the duration of one or two
academic semesters to help cover periods of peak appointment demand (e.g.
February to June, and/or July to November). In house supervision, attendance to
counselling case discussion meetings and regular professional development
opportunities are included in the role.
We are currently in the
process of updating our register of interested and available counsellors who
would be available to work from August to December 2021. Appointments
are offered via telecounselling (video conferencing or phone) and in person
(pandemic permitting - we are anticipating resuming in person appointments
progressively over the next few months).
For further information, position
description, or to express interest via the submission of a curriculum vitae,
please contact Karolina Crvenkovic by 13 August.
