About the role

The Professional Psychology Programs Coordinator is located within the School of Psychology and is responsible for providing high level managerial and administrative support across the suite of post-graduate professional psychology programs to facilitate sustainable growth and ensure a smooth student experience. This role will report to the Director of the Clinical Psychology Program and will liaise closely with Course Coordinators of the postgraduate professional psychology programs, as well as with Student Pathways (Admissions), Marketing, and People and Culture. The role will support the Program Director to sustainably maximise enrolments in the postgraduate professional psychology programs, with key delivery areas around marketing and student recruitment, securing external partnerships and funding, whilst maintaining an optimal student experience. The post-holder will also ensure programs comply with staffing ratios set by the accrediting body through recruitment and management of a suitably credentialed casual workforce to support program expansion. The post-holder will interface with the Selection Coordinator to ensure sustainable program expansion via partnerships in addition to direct student recruitment. The role therefore requires management and recruitment experience, high level administration skills, as well as technical knowledge, in order to develop systems and processes to support the delivery of the School’s growth strategies in relation to these high-demand professional psychology offerings. The role also requires high level interpersonal liaison skills, as it interfaces between the School’s academic and professional staff, and other key business units including the Admissions team, Marketing and People and Culture. Additionally, it is an applicant-facing role which typically receives a high volume of enquiries due to course demand.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

·  Extensive experience and specialist expertise in technical and administrative fields.

·       Superior strategic and organisational skills, initiative and judgement

·       Experience in recruitment and management of staff.

·  Outstanding interpersonal, communication and engagement skills and the ability to maintain diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality.

·    The ability to drive continuous improvement of processes, systems and work practices. 

About the Group

The School of Psychology at UNE is a leading provider of psychology education and training and the university of choice for students who wish to work in rural and regional Australia. We produce above world standard research and provide cutting edge training in psychology science and professional and clinical practice. UNE offers a number of post-graduate professional psychology programs which are fully accredited with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. These courses include the Master of Professional Psychology which provides a pathway to students undertaking a year’s internship following a fifth year of training in psychology in order to achieve general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

The University also offers the Master of Psychology (Clinical), and PhD (Clinical Psychology) which provide eligibility for General Registration and , leads to Area of Practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology. Graduates from our programs have outstanding employment prospects and many have become senior leaders in the field across Australia and internationally.

The UNE Psychology Clinic (The Clinic) provides specialist clinical experience for students completing the Master of Psychology (Clinical), and PhD (Clinical Psychology) degrees with 2 x20 week placements each year. The Clinic has approximately five staff and approximately 450 clients per annum. The Clinic fulfils an important community service by providing high quality mental health services to members of the general public.
