About the Opportunity
A vacancy exists at the Brain Injury
Rehabilitation Unit (BIRU) for a highly motivated Clinical Psychologist or
Clinical Psychology Registrar to join our friendly and supportive team.
This position provides a high standard of psychological services to the
clients of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit. The Clinical Psychologist will
be responsible for providing psychological and behaviour support services for
the present and future needs of people with traumatic brain injury and their
families. Those with a particular interest working in an inpatient
rehabilitation services are encouraged to apply.
Clinical Psychology Registrars are encouraged to apply. Supervision for
the Registrar Program is available onsite to promote knowledge and
understanding of working with this complex client population.
What You'll be Doing
Delivering psychological assessments,
diagnosis, interventions, behaviour support and consultation in order to
address the needs of consumers who are living with traumatic and acquired brain
injury. The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of
services and assists in the development and provision of education and training
programs. Additionally, the role may include supervising Psychologists working
within the LHD according to experience and organisational needs.
Where You'll Be Working
- Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is
the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to
the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district
services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range
of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal
intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
- The Hospital provides a health service of
international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds,
diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity,
paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and
medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
- Liverpool Hospital is currently
undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and
Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an
increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South
Western Sydney.
- Liverpool Hospital is a principal
referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney
University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and
colleges.

- Full
registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited
postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years
full time duration or recognised equivalent.
- Demonstrated
competence in a wide range of psychological assessments and evidence based
psychological treatments delivered on an individual and/or group basis
- Demonstrated
experience working independently in the provision of
patient/consumer-focused care.
- Demonstrated
knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development,
implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated
ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish
service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
- Demonstrated
high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to
adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
- Interest
in working with the psychological and behavioural sequelae of
traumatic and/or acquired brain injury.
- Knowledge
and/or experience in developing and implementing behaviour support
plans
