Northern Territory Correctional Services (NTCS) performs an essential role in our community and the criminal justice system. Our work is complex, and we often work under difficult circumstances, but the job is rewarding.
Community Corrections services the entire Northern Territory with regional offices in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek with smaller offices located in Nhulunbuy, Groote Eylandt and Wadeye. We reach almost 80 communities.
The Practice Leader role suits a psychologist or social worker with forensic, clinical and organisational interests. The Practice Leader is part of a team of five clinicians who work across the Northern Territory with probation and parole officers to implement practice reforms specific to the rehabilitation and management of domestic, family and sexual violence offenders. The Practice Leaders will deliver staff resilience initiatives to community corrections staff that aim to strengthen recruitment, training, retention and wellbeing across NTCS.
To be successful you require tertiary qualifications in psychology or social work with eligibility for unconditional registration with AHPRA or the AASW; we are looking for clinicians with some experience in criminogenic assessment, treatment and risk management of high risk offenders and expertise in clinical assessment and practice. Your role will comprise working with offenders and their family members in community settings and advising, supporting and training the probation and parole officers regarding their case load management.
You also need to be willing to gain experience as a supervisor and to design and deliver training on a range of criminogenic practice topics and to develop processes to reduce red tape and define clinical administrative processes. The ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential.
In return you will be rewarded with a competitive salary package including 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, negotiable flexible work arrangements, assistance with relocation costs, and an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of living in the Northern Territory. In the Practice Leader role you will receive regular training and consistent high quality supervision from the Senior Practice Leader and the Senior Practice Director and benefit from working collaboratively with a large team of clinicians who deliver service across Northern Territory Correctional Services.
