About the Company
Open Sky Psychology is a close-knit team of 11 practitioners who offer psychology services to clients with issues such as anxiety, depression, complex trauma/PTSD, stress, workplace problems, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, as well as relationship problems of all kinds. We see adults, couples, families and teenagers, working mainly from our rooms in Putney Village, as well as offering online sessions as needed.
About the Role
This Contractor position is initially offered for 2-3 days per week but could be extended by mutual agreement. The hours are flexible, and we focus on fostering personal well-being in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, which includes professional development and peer learning through voluntary regular lunch time group supervision meetings.
We are seeking someone who shows a natural aptitude and ease in connecting well with clients and team members, and a proven ability to work long term with a psychotherapy orientation. Many of our clients present with complex issues which require 20+ sessions. Our aim is not only to help clients to address and resolve inner pain, but also to help them work towards personal growth as part of that process, transitioning to a better quality of life, ongoing.
Team Support
Our support includes a) new clients supplied to you via our Halaxy diary platform; b) access to supervision from the Clinical Director and Principal Psychologist – and more informally, from other team members; c) full phone reception support and diary management d) a friendly team of practitioners who enjoy warm and supportive interactions in their breaks. Our team currently consists of 2 Clinical Psychologists, a Counselling Psychologist, a Senior Psychologist, 4 Registered Psychologists, 2 Psychotherapists and a Social Worker. We have an in-house Office Manager (as well as a virtual phone reception team).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality psychological counselling services to a broad range of clients, with a focus on working with young female clients aged 12 to 35.
- Develop and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with clients, utilising a range of modalities such as Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Emotion Focussed, Psychodynamic and Narrative approaches, as well as ACT, CBT, DBT and solution focussed therapies.
- Nurture relationships with local referral agencies, GPs and other marketing sources.
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and billing management.
- Participate in in-house case-conferences, staff meetings and training from time to time.
- Ensure compliance with industry professional development requirements.
Key Criteria
- A keen interest in psychotherapeutic theory and practice, and an ability to develop rapport and maintain a strong therapeutic alliance with your clients.
- Capacity for self-reflection and commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Available for work 2-3 days (face to face and telehealth).
- Desirable: experience in private practice settings, working with complex presentations.
- Desirable: WorkCover approved.
- Essential: Full Registration with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Essential: Eligible for Medicare Service Provision
