About us

The Victorian Adult Burns Service (VABS) at The Alfred hospital is the state-wide provider of burns care for all adults with complex major burn injuries in Victoria, as well as many people with less severe burns. Each year The Alfred admits over 300 burns patients and reviews over 1000 outpatients.

In addition, The Alfred’s Burns Service provides education and training for rural and regional clinicians involved in caring for burn-injured patients, and collaborates with community and industry groups on burn awareness campaigns and to provide first aid education and training.

The Burns Service undertakes research into the causes and mechanisms of burn injuries, as well as evaluating emerging clinical treatment technologies. The Victorian Adult Burns Service at The Alfred provides clinical leadership in all aspects of adult burn care.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will provide clinical services (assessment and interventions) to inpatients and outpatients and where appropriate link to community-based services. Liaison with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and in particular with other psychosocial staff is an important aspect of the position. You will be expected to participate in Psychology and VABS activities where possible and will function as a senior member of The Alfred Health Psychology Department.

About you

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology
  • General Registration as a Psychologist and endorsement as a Clinical Psychology under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
  • Approved Supervisor status with Psychology Board of Australia or willingness to undertake training to achieve approved supervisor status.
  • A minimum of five yearsexperience working as a psychologist
  • Australian working rights and be willing to undergo a Background Check
  • Full Covid-19 and 2024 Influenza vaccinations
