The roles in Thailand will be working in an inpatient centre in Chiang Mai, that will have a focus on rehabilitation with respect to mental health issues and substance misuse or dependency. Our Psychologists are mental health practitioners who specialise in treating patients with emotional crises, stress, anxiety and behavioural disorders. Their primary responsibilities include offering patient consultations and implementing individualised psychological treatment.  Their role is to be emotionally sensitive with excellent problem-solving skills, who are committed to helping people better their lives. The responsibilities of a Psychologist includes listening to patients and identifying their core problems, building strong, long-term relationships based on trust and monitoring patient response to treatment over time, among other duties.  This is all done in a Psychologically informed work environment that is anchored in compassion.

 

The Psychologist is an expert problem solver with good diagnostic skills. This requires a highly analytical mindset and the ability to understand people on a psychoanalytic level.  Fluency in English is needed.

 

Psychologist Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling patient consultations with case load (approx. 4 clients).
  • Assessing patients and identifying their problems and or presentation.
  • Engaging in discussions with patients and making them feel comfortable.
  • Implementing individualised treatment programs.
  • Undertaking psychometric testing or other appropriate evaluations.
  • Evaluating patient responses to treatment over time.
  • Organising a long-term counselling plan that involves multiple sessions.
  • Offering services to all age groups at The Beekeeper (over 18 only).
  • Offering both one-on-one and group counselling/group work.
  • Facilitating groups with other clinicians
  • Keeping a detailed account of patient mental health history through The Beekeeper EMR system.
  • Being patient and building relationships based on trust.
  • Ensure weekly group/individual supervision take place with other practitioners.
  • Attending weekly MDT meetings.
  • Covering for other Psychologists when they are on leave.
  • Development of new ideas/innovation for the clinical program with coordination of the Clinical Director. 
  • Offer guidance, support or coaching on as needed basis for support workers or mental health workers.
  • Coordinate care needs of clients with the Medical Director, and or a Psychiatrist who is working in partnership with The Beekeeper.

Psychologist Requirements:

  • Relevant degree in Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Health or General Psychology.
  • Attainment and retention of a relevant license in Psychology or equivalent.
  • Good observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Empathy and sensitivity when dealing with patients.
  • Highly analytical mindset.
  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • At least five years’ experience in a clinical setting. However, we will consider newly qualified Psychologists on a case-by-case basis.
  • Some experience of working substance dependency is advantageous.
