Senior Psychologist – Practice Lead

Queensland Corrective Services has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Manager Disability Services to manage the Disability Services team.

About the Role:

The Manager of state-wide Disability Services is responsible for providing high level leadership and operational management for the provision of disability services for prisoners and offenders under QCS care. Reporting to the Director of Psychological Services the Manager Disability Services will lead and manage a state-wide multidisciplinary allied health team to deliver effective and efficient disability services. The role will require strategic thinking and planning to consider growth and change to the QCS disability services model and navigate the challenges and barriers through this process.

In this role you will:

Provide strategic oversight, contemporary leadership and service planning to promote a culture of continuous improvement

Co-ordinate and implement activities and initiatives focused on the delivery of high quality and person-centred services which strengthen identification of disability and support prisoner engagement with the NDIS and other services.

Lead the day-to-day management and develop a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals through demonstrated competence in frontline people management techniques including providing mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback and appraisal processes.

Oversight of QCS' state-wide disability services activities, including maintaining a working professional knowledge of best-practice principles for the management of offenders with a disability.

Manage the provision of high level and clinical advice, support and training to staff involved in disability services

Develop, implement and oversee sustainable training, professional development and practice support strategies for staff engaged in disability service delivery, including assessment and support to prisoners with a disability

Development and delivery of a quality assurance framework that supports practice development and robust decision making aimed at state-wide disability service delivery.

Manage and control resources against allocated budget and monitor monthly financial statements.

Monitor the quality of disability services, relevant trends and develop and implement governance strategies to improve the quality and consistency of practice

Manage the preparation of strategic advice, reporting and ministerial and executive correspondence ensuring accuracy and timelines are met

Maintain a contemporary and high standard of professional knowledge of allied health and disability services in correctional settings and professional practice issues, trends and practices.

Forge meaningful working relationships and networks with key forensic disability stakeholders.

Lead and participate in strategic engagement with external stakeholders including agency representation on forums related to disability, to ensure the achievement of government priorities and outcomes.

Maintain representation at internal forums and participation at high level engagements to advocate and inform from PSU/Disability Services team perspectives.

Provide input to formal and impromptu QCS internal core business areas (such as probation and parole feedback, offender release considerations, offender rehabilitation and intervention feedback).

Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements

Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Criminology, Social Work or a related allied health discipline would be highly desired in this role. 

Possession of post graduate qualifications (or significant progress towards post graduate qualifications) in a relevant area and/or applicable registration or membership with appropriate registration authority will be highly regarded.
