Purpose of position:

The Blacktown Early Access Team supports young people aged between 12-24 with a moderate to severe mental illness in the Blacktown and Mt Druitt LGA’s.

 

 

This position provides a range of case management and therapy services to young people within the Western Sydney LHD – PCYMHS. Provide leadership and supervision to other staff, students as required. Clinician will utilise their extensive experience and specialist skills to take on quality improvement and other projects.

 

 

Assessment and management of youth with mental illness in an individual and group setting working within a multidisciplinary team.

 

 

Provision of education, consultation, co therapy and supervision within the BEAT team as required, other service providers and relevant government agencies. 

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • Qualification: Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Registration: Full registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology, or eligibility to progress to endorsement.

 

Selection Criteria

  1. Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and full registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology, or eligibility to progress to endorsement.
  2. Demonstrated skills and clinical experience in Mental Health in a community setting including working with children/families who present with moderate to severe emotional and behavioural problems.
  3. Demonstrated evidence based skills in the assessment, early intervention and treatment of children and their families presenting with complex mental health issues in a developmental framework.
  4. Demonstrated experience and high level skills in the use of a range of standardised psychometric tools administered as a part of a comprehensive assessment of clients referred to the service.
  5. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and ability to build therapeutic relationships.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with other service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for children and families.
  7. Current valid NSW drivers licence and willing to use for work purposes.
