Senior Psychologist

About the roles

Senior Psychologists support the Director, Organisational Psychology, to maintain a range of psychological services in support of the business and operational objectives of the ACIC. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced psychologists to contribute to Australia’s national interests.

The Organisational Psychology team is a vibrant and energetic community of practice and is committed to providing highly professional and evidence based applied psychology services. The team is seeking to fill the positions of a Senior Psychologist (Wellbeing) and a Senior Psychologist (Organisational Suitability).

Senior Psychologist (Wellbeing) - Canberra

Key responsibilities:

·       Review the wellbeing of critical staff

·       Manage vicarious trauma risk for staff exposed to explicit material

·       Provide advice to business areas on the management of staff through the promotion of resilience and grit

·       Contribute to psycho-educational training

·       Communicate psychological opinions and behavioural science advice in support of organisational functions

This role may be offered on a job share work arrangement.

Senior Psychologist (Organisational Suitability) - Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney

Key responsibilities:

·       Perform complex psychological suitability assessments and provide verbal and written analysis that synthesises information derived from a range of sources

·       Be accountable for accurate completion of work within time frames and quality requirements.

·       Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·       Have the capacity to build and sustain relationships with key internal stakeholders to progress psychological risk mitigation controls

To be successful in the roles, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

·       Engage in regular, open and collaborative communication with all team members and display a strong team ethic

·       Have the ability to manage competing priorities and fluctuating workloads

        Established communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written

        Strong ethical boundaries and well-developed problem-solving skills

 

Senior Psychologist (Wellbeing)

        Experience in conducting psychological assessments using case formulation methodology

        Demonstrated training and experience in the clinical assessment of mental health/wellbeing issues

 

Senior Psychologist (Organisational Suitability)

        Experience in the application of clinical risk assessment protocols and case formulation methodology

        Experience providing evidence based psychological advice in support of organisational functions

Essential qualifications

        General registration as a Psychologist (unconditional) with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency

        Post graduate studies in Clinical, Organisational or Forensic Psychology

        2 years post graduate experience

        Eligibility for membership with the Australian Psychological Society

Desirable qualifications

·       Eligible for area endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia

·       Recognised as, or interested in becoming, a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor.

  • Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
  • Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
  • Pre-Employment Screening – All candidates must satisfy an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to being offered employment at the ACIC.
