About the Opportunity
Fulham Correctional Centre delivers
comprehensive quality clinical services to prisoners, and we are seeking
clinicians to join our multidisciplinary team.
Our work is fast paced and as a Clinician you will
conduct screening and assessments for both Alcohol and Other Drug Offending
Behaviours, as well as group-based facilitation of Remand, Health Stream, and
Offending Behaviours Programs. Our programs are mostly dual-facilitated and
vary in duration. You will also facilitate release related harm reduction and
coping/ adjustment programs, as well as have opportunities to run training and
peer supervision. It is a very complex and rewarding role with opportunities to
develop skills in a range of complex presentations using a trauma-informed
approach.
The team includes clinicians from a range of
disciplines who have complementary core competencies in assessment and
treatment of a range of behaviours and mental health conditions. This role sits
within the Rehabilitation and Reintegration team, and you will liaise closely
with other functions within the team and more broadly across the Centre.
Clinicians will be psychologists with provisional or
full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA); social workers
with registration with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW); or
occupational therapists registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of
Australia.
About You
To be successful in the Clinician role you will be
willing to learn about the Victorian Criminal Justice System and have:
- Knowledge of the “What Works” literature in offender
rehabilitation, in addition to the application of the Good Lives Model
(GLM) and principles of Risk Need Responsivity (RNR) in reducing
recidivism in offender populations
- Demonstrated experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
(CBT) and other best-practice therapeutic frameworks for working with
offenders
- Experience in clinical and/or risk assessments, individual
and group intervention, in a correctional, clinical or other relevant
setting with ability to efficiently prepare clinical formulations and
reports; or demonstrated willingness and ability to obtain
- A desire to make a difference to the lives of people who may
experience disadvantage, have challenging behaviours and complex needs
- Experience working collaboratively with others in a complex
environment
- Ability to embrace change and continuous improvement
- Good communication and effective interpersonal skills
- Empathy and cultural awareness
