Role Overview:
As a Clinical Psychologist at the Sydney Phobia Clinic, you will play a key role in delivering manualised therapy to clients with specific phobias using virtual reality as a tool for exposure therapy. Additionally, you will design and implement treatment plans tailored to the individual needs of other clients with more complex presentations, including for clients of our other clinic, Sydney OCD Clinic, if you are interested.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct psychological assessments, and develop and deliver tailored treatment plans.
• Provide individual therapy to clients using VR-based exposure therapy techniques.
• Monitor client progress, adjusting treatment as needed for optimal results.
• Collaborate with the clinic’s team to enhance and innovate VR scenarios for various phobias.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest VR developments in the mental health field.
• Maintain accurate client records and treatment documentation.
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience in using virtual reality or other digital interventions in therapy.
• A strong interest in gaming and technology, with the ability to integrate these elements into therapeutic practice.
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatments for phobias, particularly CBT and exposure therapy.
• Ability to engage clients through innovative, tech-forward methods while maintaining compassionate, person-centred care.
• A strong commitment to continuous professional development, particularly in VR and gaming-related psychological tools.
