Mental Health Clinician (Tamworth based)

Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinician to take on a clinical lead role within a multi-disciplinary residential service!

The position available is:

  • Full-time (76 hours/fortnight)
  • Part-time hours will also be considered and negotiable
  • Working Monday - Friday
  • This position offers an attractive annual salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

About the Location

The HASI Plus program supports people in Tamworth and the Hunter area. This is an independent role where you will be responsible for managing your own time. The role will require some travel to both areas however will be based in Tamworth.

Relocation assistance will also be considered for the right applicant. 

About the Opportunity

The role of the Mental Health Clinician with HASI Plus is a lead clinical role across the New England and Hunter area with one of Australia’s leading providers of comprehensive mental health support services. HASI Plus is a collaborative, residential support program delivered by Flourish Australia & the Hunter New England LHD. 

HASI Plus provides residential support to people with severe and persistent mental health issues & complex needs. This is achieved through effective collaboration with people we support, their families or carers, Flourish Australia staff, NSW Health, and various other stakeholders. The Mental Health Clinician will play a vital role in supporting participants, providing clinical advice, liaising with state-wide health agencies to promote our services, developing and implementing in-house training, as well as maintaining professional relationships across the local health district and allied health industry.

About You

The Mental Health Clinician with HASI Plus will design and facilitate proactive, person-directed interventions to enhance the individuals understanding of their mental health issues, promote their self- determination, choices and resilience, and develop opportunities for community integration and citizenship. An ideal candidate would:

  • Be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative and take a clinical lead role 
  • Have a high-level understanding of clinical mental health interventions and outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong working partnerships in the community with other allied health professionals to provide choice to people accessing the service
  • Apply advanced working knowledge of person led recovery practices
  • Provide capacity building through psycho-education and training to non-clinical staff 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Possession of tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other allied health disciplines recognised by the tertiary mental health services sector 
  2. Eligibility for membership of the appropriate professional body (e.g. APHRA, AASW)
  3. Specialist mental health skills and experience working in a clinical setting.
  4. Ability to assess performance deficiencies and invoke reasonable effective and supportive programs for improvement
  5. Advanced understanding and demonstrated application of recovery-oriented services
  6. Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence
