About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health is expanding its Psychology team with three new academic positions at Associate Professor (Level D), Senior Lecturer (Level C) and/or  Lecturer (Level B) levels. These roles present an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative teaching, research and work integrated learning in Psychology, supporting the University’s commitment to student success and academic excellence. We are particularly seeking candidates who hold registration with as a psychologist and have experience delivering both undergraduate and postgraduate psychology education, and delivering high-quality learning experiences. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering innovative, learner-centred teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology programs.
  • Developing and coordinating units and courses that align with accreditation requirements.
  • Engaging in impactful scholarship of teaching or research and supervising Honours and Higher Degree Research students.
  • Collaborating with industry, professional bodies, and community stakeholders to enhance student learning and career outcomes.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic and driven academic, ready to contribute to SCU’s growing Psychology discipline. Whether you are an experienced lecturer or a senior academic looking for leadership opportunities, we encourage your application.

More specifically, you will have: 

  • A PhD in Psychology (essential).
  • Registration as a psychologist with AHPRA and practice experience (desirable).
  • Proven excellence in teaching and curriculum development in Psychology.
  • Experience in blended and online learning environments.
  • A research or teaching scholarship track record relevant to level, including where possible publications in high-quality journals and supervision of honours/higher degree research candidates.

In addition, for a level C Senior Lecturer or Level D Associate Professor:

  • Leadership experience in teaching, research, and/or professional practice, and experience leading design, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and resources that support and enhance the effectiveness of student learning.

Salary and benefits

Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. These position are:

  • Two full-time, continuing (permanent) and one fixed-term (2 year) 80% role
  • Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450 or Gold Coast, QLD 4225, Generous relocation support available in accordance with our relocation assistance policy.
  • Academic Level B, C or D. The level of appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.

o   The base salary for Academic Level B ranges from $110,611 - $130,814 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $153,052.

o   The base salary for Academic Level C ranges from $134,848 - $155,046 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $181,404.

o   The base salary for Academic Level D ranges from $161,784 - $177,948 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $208,199.
