This is an on or off site part-time role for a trained EMDR therapist who may be a qualified Psychologist, Counsellor, or Mental Health Social Worker, at Due North Psychology by Allie Mackay.

Role Description
EMDR therapy delivered by telehealth or on site. The role involves deep knowledge of trauma counseling, first responders and their working condition, conducting psychological assessments to inform treatment planning, and delivering effective treatment mental health support to clients who are referred to our practice. We are a feedback informed practice. Some clients attend by tele-health and others come into our rooms. The ideal candidate works well in a team and seeks to build up and encourages the strengths of other members of the practice.
Qualifications
- Registered to work in Australia, Psychologists with AHPRA, Counsellors with ACA, Licensed Mental Health Social Worker
- Two years plus experience post registration in delivering Trauma Therapy
- Proven ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic alliance with clients
- Work Cover provider or willing to do the short course with SIRA
- Emotional agility, flexibility and tolerance to take on constructive feedback provided by clients and peers
- Trauma knowledge, training and applied understanding
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills with other professionals
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to therapy
- Relevant post graduate qualifications in EMDR, IFS, or Schema Therapy

The applicant will be trauma informed and use neurodiversity affirming practices.
They understand and love to provide feedback informed treatment, to better understand what the client needs and to tailor treatment to individual characteristics.
They are aware of the importance of regular correspondance with referrers.
A clear understanding of deliberate practice and commitment to ongoing reflective practice.
The applicant will be treating the whole person, presenting with symptoms of trauma, anxiety and stress with appropriate intervention including EMDR, Mindfulness based therapies, such as Compassion focussed therapy.
