About the role
This
newly created position will be based within our General Counselling Service,
providing culturally safe, LGBTQIA+-affirming therapeutic support to clients
impacted by mental health concerns, minority stress, trauma, identity
exploration, and other psychosocial challenges.
Working
in a part-time capacity, the role will also:
- Conduct psychological assessments and collaborate on care planning as required.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed psychological counselling to LGBTIQA+ community members and those living with or affected by HIV.
- Deliver case planning, advocacy and support as required.
- Provide advocacy to clients navigating mental health and community support systems.

About you
You
will have a tertiary qualification in Psychology, full
registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner
Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and eligibility to provide Medicare-rebated
psychological services under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative
(i.e., possession of or ability to obtain a Medicare Provider Number).
You
will also bring to the role:
- Knowledge of
and experience with evidence-based therapeutic frameworks and trauma-informed
counselling practice skills.

Experience and
competence in the delivery of counselling involving diverse client groups.

Demonstrated
competence in providing psychological therapy and conducting risk assessments.

Advanced
organisational skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and
complex systems and maintain professional partnerships with sector colleagues.

Comprehensive understanding of mental health presentations in LGBTQIA+ populations.
