Hours: Room availability Tuesdays and Thursday from 2pm (and Saturdays). 

Hourly rate: $120

Purpose of Position:
The Clinical Psychologist/Registered Psychologist will assess and diagnose psychological disorders, providing evidence-based therapies to adult and young clients (12 years and older) referred by general practitioners (GPs) within the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiatives or other arrangements, such as WorkCover (if SIRA qualification has been obtained).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based psychological strategies (CBT, psycho-education, relaxation techniques, skills training, interpersonal therapy) to adult and young clients (12 years and older) referred under a GP Mental Health Care Plan or other funding arrangements, such as WorkCover (if SIRA qualification has been obtained).
  • Maintain accurate client case notes using an electronic clinical record system, adhering to practice protocols and professional standards.
  • Provide written reports to the referring GP detailing assessments undertaken, treatments provided, and recommendations for future management of the client's disorder, in line with practice protocols.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Master’s degree or higher in Psychology.
  2. Current registration with AHPRA.
  3. Current registration with Medicare as an approved provider.
  4. Experience in assessing and diagnosing mental health disorders, and providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based psychological strategies.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of key issues in comprehensive primary health care, especially related to the health and well-being needs of adults and young people with mental health and/or substance use issues.
  6. Proficiency in using a desktop computer, with familiarity with MS Office applications and the ability to learn a new clinical software package for electronic client records.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information and express yourself clearly and appropriately in both verbal and written interactions.

Additional Information:

East Sydney Psychologists is a generalist private practice seeing clients across the clinical conditions spectrum through treatment modalities of CBT, ACT, EMDR and Schema Therapy. There are two principal psychologists, currently a team of three psychologists and two office locations. 

  • This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy or are willing to learn about psychology in private practice.
  • Open to negotiating supervision if desired.
