Position Title: Psychologist

Salary level: HEW 7.1 ($103,641 1.0 FTE ($56.75 per hour) + 17% superannuation)
Contract type: Part-time (0.2 FTE) fixed term contract for 21 weeks (14/07/2025 to 05/12/2025)

An exciting opportunity is available for registered psychologists to join a research project investigating the impact of conventional indoor therapy compared to outdoor ‘walk-and-talk' therapy for men with low mood.

Successful applicants will have at least general registration as a psychologist through the Psychology Board of Australia. Psychologists will conduct sessions in both study arms. Both indoor and outdoor sessions will take place at Callaghan Campus (University of Newcastle), with the outdoor sessions taking place on a pre-selected walking route on campus.
The role is part time for 1 day per week for 21 weeks. An average 8-hour day will include 5-6 x 1hr client sessions, a 1hr lunch break, and 1-2hrs time for processing notes and administration. Successful applicants must be able to meet the following selection criteria:
• Registered psychologist with a passion for mental health research
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Flexible and adaptable approach to conducting therapy sessions
• Ability to conduct up to three 1hr walking sessions per day
