NovoPsych – Help Shape the Future of Psychological Assessment

Join NovoPsych and Shape the Future of Psychometrics.

About Us

NovoPsych (www.novopsych.com) is Australia’s leading psychometric platform for mental health clinicians. Our mission is to enhance mental health services through evidence-based assessments, enabling better client conceptualisation, diagnosis, and symptom monitoring. We deliver tests that are evidence based, and support clinicians with clear, data-driven insights and interpretation tools.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a psychologist or researcher with a passion for psychometrics, research, and innovation to join our team in a remote, flexible position (3 to 5 days per week). This is a role that allows you to apply your psychological expertise in an impactful way—shaping the tools used by thousands of practitioners and improving mental health care at scale.

Key Responsibilities

- Write accessible summaries of psychometric validity and reliability for clinical users

- Review and synthesise complex psychometric literature into clear, actionable insights

- Develop and pilot novel psychological measures

- Analyse data using advanced statistics to validate and refine assessments

- Liaise with academics and assessment authors

- Conduct quality assurance and product testing

- Leverage AI technologies to streamline research and development workflows

- Conduct independent, systematic analysis of psychometric data

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

- At least four years of university-level psychology training. A Ph.D would be an advantage though not required.

- Strong analytical mindset with attention to methodological detail

- Strong skills in data analytics using R, SPSS, or similar platforms

- Knowledge of psychometric test construction principles, such as IRT

- Experience publishing in peer-reviewed literature

- Familiarity with NovoPsych and its application in clinical settings (highly desirable)

- Advanced computer skills (e.g. PhP, R, SQL, Python) are advantageous though not required

- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for acquiring new technical competencies, including AI and analytical techniques

- A solid understanding of the scientific method and/or program evaluation

- A preference for analytical, research-focussed work

- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Who This Role Might Suit

This role is ideal for a candidate who:

- Wants to reduce or step away from clinical work to think systemically

- Is an academic or researcher seeking a transition into applied psychometric innovation

- Is passionate about improving mental health care through technology and data

- Enjoys rigorous thinking, writing, and working autonomously in a remote environment

- Is ambitious, driven and can see opportunity and execute long term projects.

- Values intellectual rigour and objective analysis

- Enjoys working on complex projects and finds satisfaction in systematic problem-solving

 Work Environment

You’ll work in an environment that offers:

- Predominantly independent work but with regular team check-ins

- Access to a highly knowledgeable team of researchers and developers for intellectual collaboration

- Team culture that values rigorous thinking and evidence-based discussion

- Regular opportunities to present findings and receive feedback from experienced professionals

- Balance between analytical depth and practical clinical application

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a mission-driven company, working alongside a passionate remote team based in Melbourne, Sydney and beyond. We offer a collaborative culture, flexible working hours, and the chance to make a real impact on mental health practice across Australia and internationally.
