The Department

The Psychology & Allied Health Manager is responsible for the clinical, professional and operational services provided by Allied Health, psychology and the Peer Workforce, operating within the Adult IPU. This includes the coordination of the delivery of therapies and interventions across allied health and psychology disciplines to ensure multidisciplinary skills are accessible to our consumers and carers.

 

The Role

The incumbent, as part of  Acute IPU Leadership team, will work collaboratively with all disciplines to ensure the implementation of a range of individual and group therapies and interventions are available to complement the nursing and medical practice within the acute inpatient stream. The Manager will provide clinical oversight including clinical practice standards and their responsibilities will include:

 

  1. Operational oversight for the Allied Health and Psychology workforse
  2. Providing clinical interventions to complex patients 
  3. Providing clinical oversight of the workforce to ensure the consumers of the Inner South receive seamless evidence-based care and the patient journey is therapeutic and safe.
  4. Developing and implementing a workforce strategy and ensuring all disciplines are supported to practise discipline specific and to their full scope 
  5. Ensure all clinicians have access to clinical supervision and professional development opportunities

Qualifications Required

  • Registration with relevant professional body (Occupational Therapy Board / Psychology Board via AHPRA, or AASW)
  • Minimum of ten years’ post graduate clinical experience is desirable
  • Post graduate qualifications in mental health
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as The Mental Health Act including proposed reforms and The Children, Youth and Families Act incorporating the child information sharing scheme and any other relevant legislation
  • For psychology applicants, practice endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist and Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor status
