Allied Health Professional Lead Practitioner

The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for one Allied Health Lead Practitioner for CYMHS Youth Mental Health in the Northwest of Tasmania.

We are seeking a senior allied health professional with experience in clinical leadership, complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal. You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with young people, and their families.

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioner to provide clinical services to young people and their families/significant others experiencing mental health concerns. The position available is within our new team which is currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care and Youth Hospital in the Home).
 
The Lead Practitioner will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical leadership to the team.
  • Leadership training is available and provided by the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with University of Tasmania.

The role:

The Allied Health Professional - Lead Practitioner works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical care to a high standard within a designated program or region or statewide stream. Working within a Multidisciplinary team framework, and supporting other staff within the discipline, the Lead Practitioner – Allied Health will:

  • Ensure service delivery to children and young people, their families/significant other is in accordance with evidenced-based practice, person-centred, trauma-informed and meet the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, Legislative requirements, Agency Policy and relevant professional competencies.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the program area and related change management processes through the implementation of the associated model of care, operational service model and clinical governance requirements.

You will:

  • Be part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to young people, and their families/carers.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
  • Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
  • Leading and working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.
  • Acts as a role model and deliver comprehensive, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed biopsychosocial mental health assessments and therapies, and a range of evidenced-based psychological, creative and other therapies.
  • Provide clinical leadership within a designated program area, region and or statewide stream.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $123,717 to $138,296 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association

  • Current Working with Children Registration
