About Luma Room
Luma Room is a warm, non-judgemental, and collaborative relationship therapy practice based on Wurundjeri land in Brunswick. We offer informed relationship therapy to couples+ who seek to explore and understand their inner and outer worlds. We value a holistic approach to wellbeing, and aim to provide a safe space for people to nurture their connections. We are dedicated to evidence-based practice, tailored to each unique presentation.

Position Description
We strive to support you in having a balanced, fulfilling, flexible, and inspiring career at Luma Room.
The role involves engaging in ongoing relationship therapy with couples+ (which may include some individual sessions at times). Sessions are typically 50 minutes or can be in the form of longer therapy instensives.
You will act as an independent clinician, with Luma Room operating to support our collective of dedicated couples+ therapists.
In this role, you will have access to peer supervision, training opportunities, and will practice from our spacious rooms in Brunswick.

The position involves:
Assessment:

Assessing relational dynamics, individual, and contextual factors
-
Rapport building
-
Developing collaborative formulations
-
Using psychometric measures as appropriate

Assessing risk
Treatment:
-
Delivering client-centred, collaborative, evidence-based treatment for couples+ (and at times individuals) for relationship related challenges

Facilitating 50 minute or intensive therapy sessions

Managing risk where necessary, making appropriate referals, understanding and complying with mandatory reporting

Ability to work in person or via telehealth
Administration and communication:
-
Maintaining clinical case notes
-
Communicating with other parties (e.g., individual psychologists, GPs) as necessary and with client consent

Writing professional assessment reports and support letters as necessary

Responding to client and care team emails in a timely manner

Consulting where necessary
-
Liaising with practice colleagues regarding matters such as your availability and case load

About You

Current AHPRA registration as a psychologist (or equivalent for other professions)
-
Dedication to independent ongoing learning and reflective practice

A warm, non-judgmental, curious, and collaborative therapeutic approach

Ability to work independently and as a team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Self-care practices in place

Dedication to an evidence-based approach

Clinical experience / strong interest in working with relationships / couples+

Training in relevant areas of practice (e.g., Gottman, schema therapy for couples, emotion focused therapy, sex therapy, CBCT, IFS for couples)

Adherence to the AHPRA code of conduct, Australian Psychological Society (APS) code of ethics, or other relevant code and standards of practice

Completed relevant tertiary education for the role

Progressive and inclusive mindset

Understanding of trauma informed practice
Bonus but not Essential

Availability to work after hours (e.g., 5pm-9pm) or weekends (higher pay available for these hours)

Knowledge of a number of modalities including IFS, schema therapy, Gottman, attachment theory, emotion focused therapy, CBCT for a tailored approach

Research skills / doctoral level education

Clinical endorsement / confidence with presentations involving mental health
