The Role
As a Senior Psychologist, you will be responsible for delivering culturally appropriate, evidence-based psychological services and providing clinical leadership to support case management for clients in custody. You’ll provide expert advice on clinical and program issues, lead quality improvement initiatives, and supervise and mentor staff within a multidisciplinary team.
You’ll also coordinate research activities, facilitate educational programs, and ensure service delivery aligns with professional standards and organisational priorities.

NT Health’s Population and Primary Health Care – Prison Health Service division delivers comprehensive health care people in custody across Northern Territory correctional facilities. Services include primary health care, chronic disease management, mental health and psychological support, emergency response, and preventive health programs.
Specialist services are provided through visiting clinicians and telehealth, ensuring access to high-quality care in a secure environment. Our multidisciplinary team delivers culturally appropriate, evidence-based care that supports rehabilitation and positive health outcomes for people in custody. Your expertise in psychology will make a real difference in this unique and challenging area of health care.
About you
- You’re a skilled clinician committed to collaborative, culturally responsive care in a complex correctional setting. To be successful you’ll have:
- A tertiary qualification in Psychology and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Recent clinical experience in psychological assessment, treatment and rehabilitation methods for adults including providing contemporary psychological services
- Proven experience in evidence informed treatment for psychological disorders with the ability to manage complex caseloads.
- Proven ability to work effectively with clients and carers from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Proven strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict management skills with high-level experience in team-based care.
