Help Redesign How People Access Healthcare

Many people avoid or delay healthcare because of anxiety, trauma histories, sensory sensitivities, disability, or difficult past experiences within the health system.

Continuum Teletherapy & Allied Health is developing a compassionate telehealth service designed to support these individuals and help them access healthcare in ways that feel safe, respectful and supportive.

Continuum is currently inviting expressions of interest from psychologists who may be interested in joining the service as it develops.

About Continuum

Continuum Teletherapy & Allied Health is being developed as a trauma-informed psychological service focused on helping individuals overcome barriers to accessing healthcare.

Many people experience significant anxiety or distress when engaging with health services. These barriers may arise from trauma histories, neurodivergence, disability, sensory sensitivities, or complex health experiences.

The aim of Continuum is to support these individuals through thoughtful, patient-centred psychological care delivered via telehealth.

The service also recognises the close relationship between mental health and broader healthcare access. In some cases this includes supporting individuals experiencing significant anxiety related to medical or dental care, where psychological support may help reduce barriers to treatment and improve overall wellbeing.

Continuum is currently in an early development phase and is seeking to connect with psychologists who share an interest in compassionate, trauma-informed and ethically grounded healthcare.

The Opportunity

We are seeking expressions of interest from registered psychologists who may be interested in providing telehealth consultations to individuals across Australia once the service launches.

This opportunity may suit psychologists who value:

• thoughtful clinical work
• trauma-informed practice
• flexible remote work
• working with individuals who experience barriers to healthcare

As one of the early clinicians involved with the service, the successful applicant may have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a supportive and respectful clinical culture.

Continuum aims to prioritise clinical integrity, professional autonomy and patient-centred care, rather than high-volume service delivery.

Key Responsibilities (anticipated)

• Provide psychological consultations via telehealth
• Provide evidence-based psychological care while exercising professional clinical judgement within a supportive and ethical practice framework
• Maintain accurate, professional clinical documentation
• Support individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, disability or barriers to healthcare access
• Contribute to a compassionate and respectful clinical environment

Essential Requirements

• Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Eligibility for a Medicare provider number (or willingness to obtain)
• Professional indemnity insurance
• Experience supporting individuals experiencing anxiety or trauma
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently within a remote telehealth environment

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be highly regarded:

• trauma-informed therapy
• disability or NDIS participants
• neurodiversity
• healthcare anxiety or avoidance
• working with complex or vulnerable patient populations

Proposed Employment Structure

The anticipated structure for this role is:

• part-time employee position
• fully remote telehealth work
• flexible scheduling of clinical sessions
• minimum appointment availability expected

Compensation is expected to be structured on a sessional basis, reflecting the flexible telehealth model of the service.

Further details will be discussed with shortlisted applicants as the service develops.

Clinical Environment

Continuum aims to foster a professional environment that values reflective clinical practice and ethical care.

Clinicians involved in the service may have opportunities for:

• peer discussion and clinical reflection
• collaborative professional culture
• thoughtful and patient-centred service delivery

Recruitment Timeline

This advertisement is intended to connect with clinicians who may be interested in future opportunities as the service launches.

Expressions of interest will be reviewed over the coming weeks.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an informal conversation to discuss clinical interests and alignment with the service.

As Continuum is currently in an early development phase, the anticipated start timeframe for clinical roles is later in the year, depending on service readiness and referral pathways.

Applicants will be kept informed throughout the process.

How to Apply

Please submit:

• your CV
• a short cover letter outlining your clinical interests and approach to patient care

In your cover letter, please briefly describe what trauma-informed care means to you in clinical practice and why this area of work is meaningful to you.

Expressions of interest will be treated confidentially.
