About the role
The Senior Psychologist delivers
expert perinatal and infant mental health care through individual and group
therapy, clinical leadership, and supervision. The Senior Psychologist supports
multidisciplinary collaboration, manages referrals, and drives quality
improvement to enhance outcomes for mothers, infants, and families.
Key duties of the role
- Provide
expert clinical knowledge and or interventions in Perinatal and Infant
mental health.
- Provide
assessments including consulting, aiding advanced interpretation, and
undertaking standardised psychometric assessments.
- Assess
complex individual presentations by applying knowledge and utilising a
range of therapeutic approaches.
- Implement
individual, family and/or other group therapies.
- Plan
and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies to meet health
care needs of consumers.
Skills and Experience
- Must
hold an appropriate degree in Psychology (Masters Degree in Clinical or
Health Psychology) or equivalent qualification recognised by the
Psychology Board of Australia
- Must
hold general registration with Psychology Board of Australia and be
endorsed in clinical and/or health psychology area of practice.
- Must
hold approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia at
all levels of supervision (primary and secondary).
- Clinical
experience in the delivery of mental health psychology services to people
in the perinatal period and infants with mental health issues.
- Experience
in perinatal and infant mental health assessment and therapy with mentally
ill women and/or with families where the infant is at risk of developing
problems because of parental or other system difficulties.
