Healthy Mind Clinic works with high-functioning adults who are succeeding on the outside and quietly losing ground on the inside. Our approach is precise, structured, and evidence-based. Empathy, warmth and sound care are assumed. Clients leave with a clear understanding of what maintained their problem and the practical skills to change it independently.
We’re looking for one clinician who wants to work at that standard.
Independent contractor position. Sydney CBD. Part-time.
You will:
· conduct thorough assessments, deliver CBT-based treatment, and take genuine clinical responsibility for your clients’ care
· explain diagnosis and treatment rationale to every client from session one — not as a formality, but because that is how good treatment works
· describe clinical presentations precisely, not vaguely
· coordinate proactively with referrers and other relevant practitioners involved in client care
· bring complex cases to supervision
Administrative support handles scheduling. You focus on clinical work.
Our core client base is high-functioning adults — professionals, executives, specialists, military personnel, emergency services professionals and other high performers — who are succeeding on the outside and quietly losing ground on the inside.
Our clients typically present with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, or trauma-related conditions. They are intelligent adults who want real answers, not reassurance. That shapes how we work — and the kind of clinician we hire.
• Deliver evidence-based assessment and CBT-led treatment for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and trauma-related presentations
• Explain diagnosis, treatment rationale, and tools clearly to clients — every session, every client
• Monitor client progress using validated outcome measures
• Assess and manage clinical risk with rigour and full documentation
• Ensure regular contact and reporting with referring doctors and other clinicians
• Maintain compliant clinical records and reports for Medicare and other funding arrangements
• Engage genuinely with monthly individual supervision
• A practice with a defined, professional client base — not a generalist caseload
• Strong administrative support — scheduling is handled, clinical work is yours
• Monthly supervision with the Practice Director
• An active professional development culture: peer supervision, journal club, potential research involvement
• Flexible contractor arrangements — part-time, negotiated directly
• A practice built on clinical precision, not wellness language
Essential
• Master of Clinical Psychology (APAC-accredited) or equivalent postgraduate qualification
• Current AHPRA registration with area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology
• 5+ years post-qualification clinical experience
• Demonstrated CBT competency for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and trauma — evidenced, not asserted
• Ability to explain a clinical formulation clearly to a lay audience — assessed at interview
• High standard of written and verbal clinical documentation
• Current ABN and professional indemnity insurance
• Full compliance with the Psychology Board of Australia Code of Conduct (December 2025)
Highly Regarded
• PhD, DPsych, or active research involvement
• Training in trauma-focused CBT protocols (eg Prolonged Exposure, CPT, or similar)
• Experience and fluency delivering ACT and DBT-based approaches
• Experience across both public and private practice settings
• Experience with military veterans, emergency services, or first responders
Interview note: You will be asked to explain a client’s anxiety as if you were in session with them. You will be asked how you explain CBT to a new client in session one. There are no trick questions — but there are right answers. Precision and clarity are what we’re screening for.
