Programs Facilitator

A career opportunity has arisen in ACT Corrective Services for a suitably qualified person with demonstrated clinical experience, personal integrity, self-confidence and exceptional communication skills to fill the Programs Facilitator (HP3) position within Offender Reintegration.

The successful applicant will support detainees and offenders to address criminogenic needs, build personal capability and reduce reoffending through the delivery of contemporary, evidence informed programs and interventions. Working across custodial and community corrections environments, they will contribute to rehabilitation and reintegration outcomes that positively change lives and enhance community safety.

In addition, you will facilitate a range of group based and individual interventions for detainees and offenders with varied and complex needs. You will undertake program suitability assessments, administer pre and post intervention assessment tools, contribute to offender case planning, and assist in maintaining systems for monitoring participant progress and program outcomes.

Further to this, you will actively participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement of programs, contribute to written and oral reports relating to offender management, support ongoing data collection and compliance monitoring, and assist in ensuring program integrity, quality and effectiveness in accordance with contemporary evidence based practice while also working collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals to support person centred service delivery and positive rehabilitation outcomes.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: 

  1. Experience working with offenders and/or individuals with complex behavioural, mental health or psychosocial needs is highly desirable.
  2. Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
  3. Background police checks will be conducted.
  4. A current ACT Driver’s Licence is essential.
  5. The occupant of this role will be required to work at various ACT Corrective Services locations, including the Alexander Maconochie Centre and 2 Constitution Avenue, Canberra City.
  6. The successful applicant may be required to undertake some evening work and may be provided the opportunity to perform some weekend work.
  7. To be eligible for employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS), applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid work visa. Employment will cease if work rights are no longer held.
  8. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health related discipline (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Behavioural or Social Sciences).
  9. Eligibility for, or current registration with, the relevant professional registration board (or recognised professional body) in accordance with HP3 requirements

Note: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.

This role is being advertised concurrently at both, Administrative Services Officer Class 6 (ASO6) and Health Professional Level 3 (HP3) levels.
