Placement Coordinator, Clinical Psychology
  • Part-time (0.4 FTE), Continuing position
  • Salary Level HEW 8 ($121,213 - $136,507 p.a. pro rata) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Based at the Bundoora West campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

 About the Role

As the Placement Coordinator, Clinical Psychology, you will coordinate and support placement activity for students enrolled in RMIT’s postgraduate Clinical Psychology program. Working closely with academic staff, students, supervisors and placement partners, you will help ensure placements are planned, allocated and managed effectively, while supporting compliance with professional, ethical, accreditation and regulatory requirements.

This role will suit someone who brings clinical insight, excellent judgement and strong relationship-building skills, and who enjoys working across student support, placement coordination, partnership development and quality assurance.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate placement planning, allocation and administration for postgraduate Clinical Psychology students
  • Support students, academic staff, supervisors and industry partners to deliver a positive and well-organised placement experience
  • Help establish, develop and maintain placement partnerships that provide timely, high-quality placement opportunities
  • Contribute to the triaging of client cases and placement readiness processes so students can meet program requirements
  • Monitor and support compliance with relevant professional, ethical, accreditation and regulatory standards, including AHPRA, the Psychology Board of Australia and APAC
  • Maintain accurate placement records and contribute to quality assurance, reporting and continuous improvement activities.

The position requires registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a relevant postgraduate qualification, preferably within Clinical Psychology.

 

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing high-level administrative and executive support within a complex organisation, including coordinating governance processes, committees, and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and support projects and initiatives, including planning, tracking progress, managing timelines, and ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collate, interpret, and synthesise information from multiple sources and systems to support informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing high-quality documentation, including reports, briefing papers, business cases, and presentations for senior audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in using and managing corporate or university systems (e.g. student management, workflow/approval, and reporting systems), and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
  • Highly developed organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Learning and Teaching processes (e.g., program development and amendments) and governance frameworks, including the ability to support compliance with policies, procedures, and approval workflows.

Qualifications

Mandatory: Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a relevant postgraduate qualification, preferably in Clinical Psychology field.

Preferred: Endorsement in an area of practice as a clinical psychologist, and/or registration as a Psychology Board of Australia-approved supervisor for postgraduate training pathways. Clinical Psychology endorsement is desirable but not essential for this role.
