This is for a fixed term part time role at 0.6FTE (Full Time Equivalent) for 12 months, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Casual contracts will also be considered.

About Our Team:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

The Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorders Service (CAHDS) is a statewide service supporting children and young people under 18 years of age, along with their families, who experience ongoing difficulties with attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

CAHDS works with children and young people who have a confirmed diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and who are currently receiving treatment for challenges related to inattention, hyperactive behaviour, or impulse control.

What CAHDS Provides

CAHDS conducts comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments to identify a child or young person’s strengths and challenges, and to assess for other mental health conditions that may co-occur with ADHD. The service does not provide ongoing treatment; instead, it delivers detailed assessment outcomes and management recommendations, working in partnership with referrers and other services to support ongoing care.

Assessments may include input from the following disciplines:

• Psychosocial assessment (examining psychological and social factors influencing mental health)
• Speech pathology
• Occupational therapy
• Neuropsychology
• Psychiatry

About the Role:

Grade 1 Clinical Neuropsychologist Position Profile: As a Grade 1 Clinical Neuropsychology, you will deliver high-quality neuropsychological services within a multidisciplinary team, working under the approved supervision of a Clinical Neuropsychologist. The role focuses on the assessment and management of children and adolescents with conditions known to affect brain development, ensuring comprehensive clinical care, collaborative intervention planning, and meaningful engagement with families, schools, and referral agencies.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and developmental functioning using interviews, observations, and standardised psychometric tools.
• Providing clear assessment feedback, evidence-based recommendations, and interventions to clients, families, schools, and referring agencies.
• Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to clinical decision-making and coordinated care planning.
• Providing consultation and advice on neuropsychological matters to colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.
• Engaging in regular supervision and professional development toward endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Contributing to education, training, and applied clinical research activities as required.
• Maintaining accurate client records, complying with guidelines for testing materials and government property, and participating in continuous performance monitoring and improvement.
• Actively participating in intake, psychology, department, and service meetings as required.

An appointee may progress to Clinical Neuropsychologist Grade 2 upon successful completion of a Board-approved supervised period of practice and obtaining endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Grade 2 Clinical Neuropsychologist Position Profile: As a Grade 2 Clinical Neuropsychologist, you will provide high-quality specialist neuropsychological services within a multidisciplinary team to children and adolescents with conditions known to affect brain development. The role involves comprehensive assessment, consultation, education, and collaboration with families, schools, referrers, and other professionals to support effective clinical management and intervention planning. You will also contribute to workforce development through supervision of registrars and trainees, while maintaining strong clinical governance, quality, and professional standards.
