Registered or Provisional Psychologist – Aged Care | Penrith

We are seeking an experienced Registered or Provisional Psychologist who is compassionate, motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality psychological support services to older adults across residential aged care facilities and community settings throughout the Penrith region and surrounding Western Sydney areas.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with older Australians, supporting individuals experiencing dementia, grief and loss, anxiety, adjustment challenges, and major life transitions, while being backed by a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
About the Role
You will:
- Provide psychological support and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to older adults in aged care facilities and community settings.
- Work with individuals experiencing dementia, anxiety, grief and loss, adjustment challenges, and other age-related mental health concerns.
- Complete psychological assessments and develop individualised treatment plans based on each person's needs and goals.
- Collaborate with families, carers, support teams, and healthcare professionals to achieve positive, person-centred outcomes.
- Provide support to individuals and their families through significant life transitions, including changes in health, independence, relationships, and living arrangements.
- Prepare high-quality clinical documentation, progress notes, assessments, and reports.
- Work autonomously while receiving strong support from our experienced clinical leadership and administrative teams.
About You
You are an experienced Registered or Provisional Psychologist who is passionate about supporting older adults and improving quality of life for vulnerable populations.
You understand the unique psychological needs associated with ageing and are confident working independently within community and aged care environments.
Requirements
- Current registration (or provisional registration) with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist.
- Previous experience working with older adults, aged care, disability, community care, mental health, or related healthcare settings. This role is not suited to new graduates.
- Strong understanding of dementia, grief and loss, anxiety, adjustment challenges, and life-stage transitions impacting older adults.
- Strong clinical assessment, intervention, and report writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current Police Check and WWCC (or willingness to obtain).
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the Penrith region and surrounding Western Sydney areas, with some community-based work extending across the broader Western Sydney region.
