We're Hiring: Registered Psychologist
Independent Contractor | 2 Days per Week | Pakenham, VIC
A supportive practice. Clinical independence. Meaningful therapeutic work.
The Psychological Pause is a growing private psychology practice in Pakenham, with a strong reputation for providing thoughtful, trauma-informed psychological care to adults.
We're looking for a warm, experienced and engaged Registered Psychologist to join our small, supportive team for two days per week.
We believe good therapy is about more than applying techniques. It's about understanding the person, building meaningful therapeutic relationships and working with the underlying patterns that contribute to emotional and psychological difficulties.
We're particularly interested in a psychologist who enjoys working with complexity, understands the importance of the therapeutic relationship and takes an integrative, formulation-led approach to therapy.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a psychologist who:
-
Has a strong foundation in counselling psychology and an interest in working therapeutically with adults.
-
Understands trauma-informed practice and the importance of safety, attachment and the therapeutic relationship.
-
Is confident developing individualised formulations and working beyond symptom management.
-
Has training and experience in EMDR, particularly for trauma-related presentations.
-
Ideally has experience or a strong interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic approaches, Schema or Emotion-Focussed Therapy.
-
Is comfortable working independently while enjoying the connection and support of a small team.
-
Brings warmth, curiosity, professionalism and a genuine interest in ongoing clinical development.
EMDR training and experience are highly desirable, given the nature of our trauma-focused work.
What We Offer
Flexibility and independence
Choose the two days that suit you, with autonomy over your clinical practice, therapeutic approach and working schedule.
A supportive team environment
Join a small, welcoming team of psychologists who value collaboration, professional respect and good conversations about therapy.
Comprehensive administrative support
Our administration team manages enquiries, bookings, rebates, general practice administration, allowing you to focus on your clinical work.
An established practice
Benefit from an established referral network, a growing reputation within the community and a practice known for its trauma-informed approach.
A comfortable clinical environment
Work from welcoming, professionally furnished consulting rooms designed to create a calm and comfortable therapeutic space.
Professional connection
Opportunities for clinical discussion, collaboration and support while maintaining your independence as a practitioner.
