This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at True North Psychology Counselling and Relationships as a Relationships Counsellor. Working face to face on a sessional basis from our office in Brunswick East, you will provide high-quality counselling and support to couples navigating relational challenges.

 

We have strong demand for relationships counselling, and this opportunity would be very appealing to a practitioner who is experienced and interested in working with couples in private practice and has training and experience in this specific area of counselling.

 

Number of hours and days of work are flexible. Weekday afternoon/evening and Saturday times are highly sought after by our clients, so an openness to offering these times would be advantageous.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Conducting thorough client assessments to understand their unique needs and concerns.
  • Developing treatment plans and delivering tailored counselling interventions.
  • Supporting clients through a range of relationship-focused issues, including conflict resolution, communication issues, infidelity, relational dynamics.
  • Collaborating with clients to set and achieve their therapeutic goals.
  • Maintaining detailed client records.
  • Participating in team meetings and case reviews to share knowledge and best practice.
  • Adhering to professional codes of conduct and ethical guidelines.

 

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications and registration with a relevant professional body in psychology, social work or counselling. 
  • A minimum 5 years of experience as a Relationships Counsellor and a strong interest in working with couples.
  • Training, skills and familiarity with different relationship counselling modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method Couples therapy, Attachment theory, the neuroscience of relationships etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a compassionate, client-centred approach
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practice.
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
