Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling is Australia’s leading provider of high-quality mental health assessment and clinical counselling services for Australian veterans and their families. We focus on meeting client needs through a combination of proven clinical practices and new, and emerging evidence-based approaches. 

We have an immediate vacancy in our South Australian office. A merit pool will be established to fill future vacancies in our locations across Australia. 

As a Regional Director in the Open Arms Division, you will contribute to the national strategic direction and development of Open Arms services. You will play a pivotal leadership role in our regional teams and contribute to the achievement of the national Open Arms agenda. 

Duties

• delivery of timely, high-quality services to veteran and their families in line with professional standards of practice, departmental policies and objectives, and the Open Arms Model of Care
• identification and application of quality improvement activities and regional application of Open Arms procedures and governance
• monitoring client service satisfaction to inform continuous improvement inclusive of assessing and analysing complaints, and the provision of clear and accurate advice to complainants, internal and external stakeholders
• act as an escalation point for complex case management and apply independent professional judgement, based on valid and reliable evidence, to resolve complex clinical issues, and
• contributing to the evaluation of regional and national service delivery.

Eligibility

• Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
• All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
• The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.

Mandatory Requirements 

• Qualifications as a registered Psychologist / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR 
• Qualification as a Social Worker and membership of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW) and eligible to apply for Mental Health accreditation.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months. 

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
