About the role:

We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Student Counsellor (Psychologist / Social Worker) to join our Student Life team at our BHI! In this role, you’ll play a meaningful part in enhancing the wellbeing and learning success of our diverse student community through evidence-based counselling support, crisis intervention, and proactive wellbeing programs.

As a Student Counsellor, you will:

 

  • Provide high-quality individual counselling using evidence-based interventions, including managing a varied caseload while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Deliver services across multiple platforms - including face-to-face, videoconferencing and online resources - ensuring students have accessible and effective support.
  • Conduct specialised risk assessments and interventions for students in crisis or requiring complex support.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, Wellbeing Officers, and external mental health or community services to ensure holistic support.

 

This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity. The role offers a PACCT 6 salary of $82,089.07 plus 12% superannuation.

 

About you:

·        Current Registration with AHPRA (Psychologist) or eligibility for AASW membership. (applications from other disciplines will not be considered)

·        A tertiary qualification in Psychology or Social Work.

·        Demonstrated counselling experience, including crisis intervention capability.

·        Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build trusted relationships.

·        High-level communication skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, student-centred environment.

·        A commitment to client-centered practice and continuous improvement.
