Deputy Head of Discipline - Psychology - Academics focus

The Institute of Social Neuroscience is growing, and we’re excited to announce a senior academic position has become available. About ISN Psychology 

Based in Kew, Melbourne, ISN Psychology has educated psychologists for nine years, combining leading research, clinical training, and postgraduate education to support thriving minds and communities. Students undertake practicum and placements through ISN Clinic’s network of community-based services. 

 

The Role 

The Deputy Head of Discipline – Academics provides academic leadership and operational oversight for teaching, learning, assessment, and curriculum quality across ISN Psychology programs. Working closely with the Head of Discipline, Deputy Head of Work Integrated Learning, course coordinators, academic staff, and professional teams, you will ensure academic standards, accreditation requirements, and student outcomes are continuously enhanced. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide strategic leadership for teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programs 

  • Ensure curriculum design and assessment align with APAC accreditation standards and academic governance frameworks 

  • Lead curriculum development, mapping, review, and continuous improvement 

  • Line manage and support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of academic staff 

  • Oversee assessment moderation, integrity processes, and responses to academic misconduct and appeals 

  • Promote innovative, evidence-based teaching practices including blended and online learning 

  • Use data and feedback to identify trends and drive academic quality improvement initiatives 

  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centred academic culture

Who We’re Looking For

If you’re a dedicated and experienced academic with a passion for psychology, we want you on our team!

Key qualifications and experience may include:

? A Doctoral degree and/or Master's degree in Psychology, PHD.

? Experience teaching and facilitating as a subject matter expert.

? Ability to contribute to curriculum development, and design of engaging learning modules and resources.

? Experience in online learning environments

? A track record of research scholarship, including publications in quality journals and supervision of research candidates.

? Registration as a psychologist with AHPRA, with area of practice endorsement or eligibility in Clinical.

? Experience leading a team.
