We are currently seeking two School Psychologists to join our Psychological Services team, work during each school term, and offer holistic wellbeing solutions to our students. One role is permanent and the other is temporary. For both however, we are willing to consider full or part time opportunities.
We are seeking psychologists with a strong interest in working with children and adolescents; and who bring warmth, approachability, and calm steadiness to their practice. The successful candidates will enjoy working collaboratively as active members of a multidisciplinary school team, value lifelong learning, and engage with contemporary research and evidence-based practice. This role would suit a psychologist who combines clinical skill, emotional maturity, developmental insight, and practical flexibility; grounded in genuine respect for young people and the educational context in which they grow.
What You Will Do
- Support the educational needs, learning, development, welfare and wellbeing of Ascham girls from Prep to Year 12, and including some 130 Boarders
- Partner with our wellbeing and pastoral care teams including year coordinators, learning enhancement teachers, and boarding staff
- Provide psychological services including group programs, staff professional learning programs parenting support and referrals to external specialists
- Provide individual and group counselling for students from Prep to Year 12 who are experiencing academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties
- Promote mental health awareness and develop and implement these programs
- Report on any matters relating to Child Protection and student wellbeing, ensuring that mandatory reporting requirements are followed
- Respond to and undertake critical incident duties and provide support services as required
What You Will Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and registration eligibility with Australian Psychological Society (APS)
- Previous experience working with children and young people to provide psychological services such as individual counselling, referrals to external specialists and group programs
- Knowledge of the latest research and recommendations in relation to children and young people
- A dual passion for student learning and holistic wellbeing
- High levels of energy, enthusiasm and passion for the offerings of our psychological services team
- Ability to innovate, develop and implement programs which meet students’ needs
- Initiative, and the ability to regularly seek and recommend ideas for continuous improvement
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; with a proven ability to liaise effectively and build trust with colleagues, students, parents, guardians and wellbeing providers
- The ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to work with highly confidential matters and judiciously escalate matters as required
- A commitment to child safety, and understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgrounds
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate; and valid Working with Children clearance
