Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist

Private Practice

Merrylands Counselling is a busy psychology practice based in Western Sydney. We are looking for a psychologist or clinical psychologist to join our team for 2 days per week. This is a contract position.

The practice is well established with an extensive referral base and a growing waiting list. We can offer an immediate start, once Medicare provider number and other admin onboarding process are completed.

The team is warm and welcoming. We close the practice every day from 1pm to 2pm, so staff can have lunch together. The team has group supervision once a month at no charge. And our admin team are fantastic. So – you will be well supported practically and clinically.

Professional development and self-care are encouraged, and various members of the team have travelled together to attend various CPD events (eg: Schema Therapy, EMDR, EFT and IFS).

As well as GP’s, psychiatrists and paediatricians, a part of our referral base is also from local churches, NGO’s with a Christian background (eg: Anglicare, Salvation Army, etc.) and some mission organisations. The right candidate needs to be comfortable working with, and sensitive to, the needs of this referral group.

We also accept clients through DVA, Workcover and Victims’ Services, and have a couple of EAP contracts (one Christian School, and one mission organisation).

In summary, the right candidate will be working with an experienced team of dedicated psychologists, in a supportive environment, catering to a broad range of client presentations. You will need to be self-motivated, able to work independently, apply tailored evidence based practice, in the context of client need.

Colleen Hirst is the senior clinical psychologist and Director of the practice. She has been providing clinical services to western Sydney for over 40 years.
